Why we built Elva
Somewhere along the way, capturing a conversation in 4K became a luxury item.
We noticed something strange happening in the podcast recording space. Tools that used to be straightforward started adding "enterprise" tiers. Pricing pages disappeared behind "contact sales" buttons. Features that should be standard became upsells.
The problem
Here's what we kept seeing:
- 4K recording locked behind expensive plans
- Local recording treated as a premium feature
- Separate tracks requiring annual contracts
- Transparent pricing replaced with sales calls
We thought that was dumb.
What we did about it
We built Elva. It does the things recording software should do:
- Records in 4K
- Records locally (so your wifi doesn't matter)
- Gives you separate tracks
- Costs what software should cost
That's it. No enterprise tier. No sales calls. No "contact us for a quote."
The philosophy
We're a small team in Oslo. We don't have a sales department to pay for. We don't sponsor podcasts about productivity. We just build recording software.
This lets us price it like software instead of like enterprise software.
"Other tools charge extra for quality. We just... included it."
What's next
We're going to keep building. More features, same approach. If it should be included, we'll include it. If it's actually expensive to run, we might charge for it. But we'll always tell you the price upfront.
No sales calls. No "custom enterprise solutions." Just recording software that works.
